Frog purses were very popular during the mid to late 16th century. They were complicated structures, often involving the use of paste board and wire. Someimtes the entire frog was covered in detached buttonhole and sometimes just the body was worked in that fashion. There are a few which show legs padded up and wrapped in cording, as I have done with this one.
For this bag, the body is stiffened with card board and then padded up. The body is then worked over in detached buttonhole. A hand made cord was applied around the edges. The legs were padded and wrapped. Eventually, there will be beads for eyes when I find the ones I like.
